Uretek can be tougher than most bedrock, up to 1,000 tonnes per sq metre.

Uretek: compressive strength up to 1,000 tonnes load per square metre, if required!

Uretek injected material is much stronger than the material may look when it escapes to the surface! Sometimes on an open-air worksite Uretek may emerge from a crack or hole in the ground. When this happens, it’s unconstrained, so it just appears to ‘foam up’. In that state it can be light and relatively weak. This is very misleading.

Injected into foundation ground, the Uretek resin mix tries to expand strongly but it is usually very much constrained. The extent of constraint is determined by the weight of the structure or slab on top of the ground and by the pressure of the surrounding soils, clays, rocks etc. With significant weight above it and reasonably dense material around it the injected material Uretek becomes very dense and very strong.

Uretek: tougher than most concrete, but lighter in weight!

Injected Uretek is usually as tough as dense concrete and stronger than most bedrock, although still significantly lighter than both!

Uretek GeoPlus resins for instance, when injected in appropriate situations, can have compressive strength of up to 1,000 tonnes per square metre!

Bedrock itself often has weak strata, ‘lenses’ of varying density and/or cracks through it. Injected Uretek has none of these.

The compressive strength (density) of Uretek in most practical situations ranges from about 50 to 150 kilograms per cubic metre, or about 3-9 lbs per cubic foot.

The density of Uretek when injected is determined firstly by the particular resin mix characteristics and the amount of it injected in a particular place, and then ultimately by the constraining forces resisting it from above and all around.

The requirements and limitations of the situation will determine the resin mix and quantity in accord with the objectives of the consulting engineer and/or the Uretek manager in charge.

Should they require it, and should the conditions be suitable, . . .

Uretek can be made tougher than most bedrock!
