Uretek usually closes cracks in walls

Drought often opens up cracks in walls

One really bad effect of drought is the drying out of reactive clay in the ground. Where houses were built on ground with clay content, the clay has shrunk on drying out. Houses sink and walls crack, inside the house and in outside walls..

Exemplifying this is a house at Cleveland, Brisbane, built on highly reactive clay soil. Inspection by Uretek technicians showed extensive wall cracking, inside and out, caused by subsidence of the concrete floor slab: as much as 44 mm in some places!

Wall skirting boards had even parted company with the floor in some places. The bottom plates of some internal walls were left 20mm above the floor!

Cracks in Walls Closed in just one Day

Uretek Qld Manager, Russell Deller, reported, “In just one day, we raised the 85 square metres of subsided floor slab. The wall cracks came back to little more than hairlines that would disappear with re-decorating.

“The owners didn’t need to move out. They were delighted with the whole process and the results. Their written comments included, ‘Absolutely bloody marvellous.’ That makes us very proud!”
